WINTER OLYMPICS

first time in history winter olmpic came into existence during 1920 and simultanously it has been payed by women in 1998. the russian team was thebest palyer ever seen . no other team was the best hat time. it s a very fast moving game played on ice at a time. each team has six player two defender a left and right side , three offensive a center aleft wing and a right wing and golie.
if you play ice hockey you have to rely on the ice if ice is soft you will go slower and the other ice is hard and rock you will go faster
the golie has to tay in gaol and block the puck. the defender is to keep the other teammate from getting the puck
the winter olympic game began in olympia in greece in 776 B.C.

ASIAN HOCKEY GAMES


Men's hockey was first introduced in the 1958 Tokyo Asian Games, while women's hockey debuted in the 1982 New Delhi Asian Games. The gold medallist of the Asian Games hockey competition gets a direct entry into the Olympic Games. Therein lies the importance of this competition.

Pakistan is the king of the Asian Games men's hockey scene. Of the 12 Asian Games hockey competitions held so far, Pakistan has won 7 gold medals. All those 7 golds came by beating India in the final! Pakistan is the only country to win back-to-back gold medals - it won 4 gold medals in a row, in 1970 (Bangkok), 1974 (Teheran), 1978 (Bangkok) and 1982 (New Delhi).

In women's hockey, India had the distinction of winning the inaugural Asian Games gold medal in the 1982 New Delhi Asia

South Korea has been the dominant nation in Asian Games women's hockey, winning won 4 consecutive gold medals - 1986 (Seoul), 1990 (Beijing), 1994 (Hiroshima) and 1998 (Bangkok), thus matching Pakistan's record of winning 4 consecutive gold medals (1970 - 1982) in the men's competition.




FIELD HOCKEY IN INDIA

The Indian Hockey Team is the national men's field hockey team of India. It was the first non-European team to be a part of the International Hockey Federation. In 1928, the team won its first Olympic gold medal

The Indian Women's Hockey Team is the national women's team representing field hockey in India. Captain Suraj Lata Devi led the team to theGold for three consecutive years: during the 2002 Commonwealth Games (the event which inspired the 2007 Bollywood hit film, Chak De India), the 2003 Afro-Asian Games, and the 2004 Hockey Asia Cup. They were referred to as the "Jassi (Jasjeet) jaisi koi nahi" or "Golden girls of hockey," after winning the 2004 Hockey Asia Cup

OLYMPIC HOCKEY HISTORY

1920: hockey is played in early April as part of the Olympic Summer Games in Antwerp, Belgium. The tournament also serves as the first World Hockey Championship. Canada wins easily.


1964:The Soviet Union wins gold, beginning an era of internationl domination that will last nearly three decades. From 1964 to 1992, the Soviet hockey team will win seven Olympic gold medals in eight tries.



1998: Women's ice hockey debuts at the Olympics. The United States wins the inaugural gold medal by defeating Canada.

2010: One of the most dramatic final games in Olympic hockey history sees Canada beat the USA 3-2 in overtime to win gold on home ice in Vancouver. The USA mounts a spirited comeback to erase a 2-0 Canada lead, before Sidney Crosby's overtime goal clinches the gold medal.

the first hockey club came up in Calcutta in 1885-86 and soon Bombay and Punjab followed Making its Olympic debut at the 1928 Amsterdam Games, Indian hockey team cruised home to its first Olympic gold, without conceding a single goal. Indian hockey legend - Dhyan Chand, who mesmerized the Amsterdam crowd with his dazzling skills. From 1928 to 1956, the Indian hockey t won six straight Olympic gold medals, while winning 24 consecutive matches.
This was the golden era of Indian hockey, when India loomed large in world hockey and produced some of the finest players the game has ever seen. In this period , one name that clearly comes to mind is Balbir Singh. For almost three decades, Indian team had about five players with the same name. T

The origin of ice hockey is unknown, In some facts, ice hockey probaly evolved from the game of field hockey, that has been played in Northern Europe for centuries.
The rules of modern ice hockey were devised by Canadian J G A Creighton.

Today, Ice hockey is an Olympic sport and the most popular team sport played on ice. Ice hockey is played with two opposing teams wearing ice skates. The aim of the game is to knock the hockey puck into the opposing team's net. The net is guarded by a special player called the goalie.

There are 11 players on the field for field hockey. the golie protect the goal , so the oher team can't make a goal. the three half backs move into the action by making goal and he;ping other player with their position .the center can go up and down the field all the way in center.the two wings ,the right and left,carry the ball up and down to pass the ball to teammate or to score a goal.

HISTORICAL FACTS ABOUT ICE HISTROY

Hurling a sports very similar to hockey and other similar type of sports were adopted by other europeans in the middle ages.Ice hockey became an olmpic sports in 1920 and 1st of most popular event at winter olmpicsUntil the mid-1980s it was usually accepted that ice hockey was derived from English field hockey and Indian lacrosse and was spread throughout Canada by British soldiers in the mid-1800s. According to resources it is very similar to hockey, played in the early 1800s in Nova Scotia by the Micmac Indians, it appeared to have been mainly influenced by the Irish game of hurling; it included the use of a "hurley" (stick) and a square wooden block instead of a ball.

It was most likely that this game then spread throughout Canada via Scottish and Irish immigrants and the British army.

history of hockey

Basically known as" ball and sticks" game and are called hockey. It was played since ancient time in places as Rome, Scotland and Egypt and South America. The game of hockey exist from the time of early civilization. According to resource, it came into exist 4000 year back and finally played even before birth of Christ. The game was referred to in different names but the basic idea of playing the game was the same. The most apt used term was “Hockey” by the Irish.

In the 17th and the early 18th century England, the game acquired a fiercely competitive and chaotic form. Villages would compete against their neighboring hamlets and there were nearly 100 players in one team. The game was a matter of pride and manhood; so the game acquired a dangerous form. The game would last for half a month and many players would end up injured and grievously hurt. The umpires were there but they were more of mute spectators, who would make a call only if a team asked them to.

After some years, common sense and a logical and organized approach to the game came into play with the introduction of revision of rules. The Hockey Association was formed in the year 1875 and some of the rules chalked out were implemented.
